This program is an exceptional opportunity for Kalispell high school students to learn real-world skills in a hands-on way. Students work with local building professionals and teachers to build a home from the ground up every school year. Students are on the jobsite every school day and get to experience the full process of residential construction. Our mission is to equip the next generation of building trades leaders that are such a critical part of the Flathead Valley.

Student Built Homes Kalispell began in 2014 when Flathead High School teacher Brock Anderson saw a need for additional opportunities for students interested in construction trades. With the support of his friends Kirk Hammerquist, Tim Mclean, and Ty Shanks, along with volunteers from the community, Anderson set out to teach a group of students how to build a house. With donations from Western Building Center, the support of Kalispell School District 5, and by putting his personal house up as collateral (seriously) the small group was able to get a loan from the bank and begin the process. This legacy of passion for building life skills in the construction industry at all costs continues to be the heart of Student Built Homes Kalispell. 

Currently, Student Built Homes is taught by instructors Collin Kazmier and Justin Matsumoto, with volunteer instructors Ron Catlett and Larry Fryer.
